—Took the dogs for a walk. It’s chilly (35F). Came back and made their breakfast, and my kid’s lunch. And discovered that the coffee I made yesterday was never unplugged and the inside of the pot was a carbonized mess. Did I panic? No. I unplugged and rinsed with the hottest water I could muster from my sink. Then I scraped mechanically with a nylon brush. It wasn’t working as well as I hoped. Then I remembered that yesterday I watched a video of a kid using baking soda to clean their percolator. So I considered that. Instead I used a tablespoon of dishwasher detergent powder, and a pot full of water. Ran a full cycle, then scrubbed with the self-same nylon brush and rinsed with clean fresh water. The inside wasnt like new, but it was also not carbon. So, pour one out for the “solidarity” I was trying to build between myself and the old US Navy. I tride.
